Homemade granola

There is nothing better than the aroma of freshly roasted nuts, warm cinnamon, and citrus zest spreading in your kitchen. Store-bought granola is often packed with refined sugar, artificial flavorings, and palm oil. That is why today, we invite you to make an incredibly aromatic homemade granola.

Our secret ingredient here is our spice mix for sweets & nuts. Beyond preparing phenomenal roasted nuts, this blend of warm spices is also the perfect addition to your breakfast.

The Perfect Homemade Granola

Here are a few essential steps to make your homemade muesli addictively crunchy and delicious:

  • Mix the oats with the fat first: Stir very well so that the fat thoroughly coats the oats. This ensures they bake evenly and become very crunchy.
  • Sprinkle the spices: They will stick perfectly to the already oiled oats, nuts, and fruits, creating a mouthwatering aromatic crust.
  • The role of salt: Do not skip the salt! A single pinch of salt won’t make your muesli salty. Instead, sodium ions block the bitterness receptors on our tongue, which makes the natural sweetness of the honey, dried fruits, and orange zest stand out even better.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 500g oats (or other grain mix you like)
  • 200g raw nuts and seeds (cashew/almonds/walnuts/hazelnuts/pumpkin seed)
  • 100g dried fruits
  • 4 tbsp. oil
  • 2 tbsp. spices
  • runny honey/agave (optional)
  • orange peel (optional)
  • pinch of salt

COOKING:

  1. Preheat oven to 170C.
  2. In a big bowl mix well the oats with the oil.
  3. Add nuts, seeds, dries fruits, pinch of salt and 2 tbsp. spices for sweets & nuts and stir to combine.
  4. Optionally add runny honey or agave and orange peel.
  5. Evenly spread the mixture on a baking tray.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  7. Stir at least once during the baking.
  8. When the muesli is ready let it cool completely before placing in a jar or bag.
